All About Me
Hello, My name is Meghan Coyle. I am originally from Indianapolis, but currently living in downtown Chicago. I received my undergraduate degree from Ball State in 2007 and went on to become an elementary teacher for 8 years in the Indianapolis area. In 2015, I decided to take a year off to do some traveling around the world. That year turned into almost 4 years of off and on traveling/working abroad. I traveled to 26 countries, spent 3 summers working on sailing yachts in Europe, and taught English in Thailand. I love traveling and will always continue exploring this beautiful world, but it was time to hang up my backpack and plant some roots. I returned to the states in the fall of 2018 and about a year later, I decided I was finally ready to get back into the classroom; but as a student first. I began the path towards earning a Masters in Curriculum and Educational Technology from Ball State University in January 2020. Follow along with me as I evolve as an educator and share a few experiences as both a teacher and a traveler.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
Every Child Leaves Successful
It is my belief that all students come with the will and ability to learn; it is the teacher’s responsibility to provide the knowledge and means of gaining that knowledge so that every child leaves successful. I believe the atmosphere in the classroom is very important; it needs to be extremely welcoming, safe, and most importantly, conducive to learning and discovery. It is important as a teacher to establish acceptable behavior, use positive reinforcement, and instill good values in all the children. The teacher serves as a role model to students in numerous ways; morally, academically, and socially.

Enthusiastic, Motivational, Passionate
As the teacher it is important to extend learning, enhance discovery, and engage the students in meaningful activities. As technology advances, it is the teacher’s responsibility to ensure the learning is also advancing and technology is being integrated in a way that transforms and redefines education for all students. Learning, literacy, and life skills must be taught and incorporated daily in order to prepare students for the future. The teacher needs to be enthusiastic, motivational, and passionate about what is being taught.
Becoming Lifelong Learners
Every child is different, it is the teacher’s responsibility to accept and celebrate those differences in order to meet the individual needs of each student culturally, emotionally, and academically. It is my hope that as I present the knowledge needed through meaningful learning experiences, I will also inspire and motivate my students to seek more by showing them that they can have fun in the search and the value of becoming lifelong learners.
